After a wait of what seemed to have been forever, the latest shipment came in. This was an adventurous order in which I thought I’d try some old raw pu’ers from the 90s, allegedly. I knew they’d be fake, but I never imagined that they could be this atrocious. On the brighter side, however, I scored some very interesting selections. A few have real medicine notes, another has an unmistakable malted strawberry flavor, one even tastes like butterscotch. A couple even win distinction for their tastiness, in particular an ’06 raw from the inimitable Wuliang Mt and a ripe from the same year from the famous Long Yuan brand.
Don’t forget that Saturday the 18th will be the hosting of our monthly Tea-gong session through Meet-up. We’re tasting two raws, one from Yi-wu Mt and another from Bulang Mt. It will be an exploration of contrast between the genteel and the robust. Just buzz if you have any questions. 323.936.5152
