This grassy herb has a long history in numerous traditional medicine systems for supporting the immune system, particularly the lungs.  Actually improves with long-term use.  See the following article for more information and references.

At the first sign of a sore throat, Andrographis is the first thing I grab, before Yinqiao or Vitamin C.  This is because it is batting 1000, whereas results with others have have been more questionable.  Batting 1000 means that after the first dose of around 12 pills, there are zero symptoms of a sore throat.

If there is sneezing or chill along with a sore throat, then Andrographis alone may not be sufficient.
