Recommendations
The role that information gathering plays for Conscious Acupuncture cannot be over emphasized. This information comes in the form of the history you communicate, digital meridian image readings, and a physical exam.
History–
This is where I listen to your lay it all on the table. Some are really good at this, others not so much. The history is the most important aspect of your entire visit because the circumstances surrounding your condition are inseparable from the condition itself.
Patients often feel unheard. Critical information shared during the history will dictate the direction of treatment. Furthermore, the history is often key to providing a coherent explanation for what you have been experiencing. You know this, but have been ignored.
During history taking, a range of questions will be raised to determe where other systems are malfunctioning to gain a sense of the factors that may be driving the chief issue as a whole.
Acugraph–
The Acugraph is an objective measure of the flow of organs and channels in your body. Just as the heart pumps by electrical impulses, organs too have electrical qualities that can be measured for purposes of diagnosis and treatment. The Acugraph is a visual representation of your specific and overall health picture, revealing patterns and relationships that we not only discuss but can use for directing our treatment strategy.
A visual representation to the body’s distribution of energy, in this case electricity, can be helpful for patient and doctor: on one hand, it allows the patient to confirm the imbalance they’re feeling; on the other, it allows the doctor to systematically assess the relationships between the organs and channels.
Physical Exam–
The second most important aspect of the visit is the physical exam. The purpose here is to determine all sites of tension and discomfort in the body. This reveals vital information about the following factors:
- Structural imbalance
- Digestive function
- Relationship between structural and organ imbalance
- Central Nervous System imbalance
- Status of fluid metabolism
- Metabolic status overall
- Heart and lung imbalance
- Infection
This part includes pulse and tongue, but also careful palpation, i.e., poking, prodding, and feeling, to obtain a read on how physical symptoms that we detect together jive with the reason for your visit. Findings are reported in real time. It can be a bit of information overload for you but the final exam is in the results we attain. Furthermore, you will appreciate the thoroughness of a proper exam that treats the body as an organic whole.
